Ten Challenges for Normative Multiagent Systems

چکیده
In this paper we discuss the shift from a legal to an interactionist view on normative multiagent systems, examples, and ten new challenges in this more dynamic setting. 1 Towards a more dynamic interactionist view Traditionally normative systems have been studied in philosophy, sociology, law, and ethics, and during the past two decades they have been studied in deontic logic in computer science (∆EON). Normative multiagent systems is a research area where the traditional normative systems and ∆EON research fields meet agent research. The proposed solutions to the ∆EON research problems are changing, and solutions based on multiagent systems are increasing. Gradually ∗This paper appeared as the editorial [4].

Normative Systems in Computer Science - Ten Guidelines for Normative Multiagent Systems
In this paper we introduce and discuss ten guidelines for the use of normative systems in computer science. We adopt a multiagent systems perspective, because norms are used to coordinate, organize, guide, regulate or control interaction among distributed autonomous systems. The first six guidelines are derived from the computer science literature. From the so-called ‘normchange’ definition of ...
متن کاملThe Current State of Normative Agent-Based Systems
Recent years have seen an increase in the application of ideas from the social sciences to computational systems. Nowhere has this been more pronounced than in the domain of multiagent systems. Because multiagent systems are composed of multiple individual agents interacting with each other many parallels can be drawn to human and animal societies. One of the main challenges currently faced in ...
متن کاملExtracting normative relationships from business contracts
The normative concepts offer a principled basis for engineering flexible multiagent systems for business and other crossorganizational settings. However, producing suitable specifications is nontrivial: the difficulty is an obstacle to the adoption of multiagent systems in industry. This paper considers normative relationships of six main types, namely, commitments (both practical and dialectic...
متن کاملCybersecurity as an Application Domain for Multiagent Systems
The science of cybersecurity has recently been garnering much attention among researchers and practitioners dissatisfied with the ad hoc nature of much of the existing work on cybersecurity. Cybersecurity offers a great opportunity for multiagent systems research. We motivate cybersecurity as an application area for multiagent systems with an emphasis on normative multiagent systems. First, we ...
متن کاملA Review of Norms and Normative Multiagent Systems
Norms and normative multiagent systems have become the subjects of interest for many researchers. Such interest is caused by the need for agents to exploit the norms in enhancing their performance in a community. The term norm is used to characterize the behaviours of community members. The concept of normative multiagent systems is used to facilitate collaboration and coordination among social...
